| | | | What is Rocky Horror? | | | | | |
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 British musical comedy film that parodies science fiction and B-movie horror films..." Oh now that we got that out of the way, Rocky Horror is much more than a 30+ year old movie! It's an experience that many never forget. It's a place where being you is more than "O.K." it's encouraged!
| | | | What's a "Virgin"? | | | | | |
No man, I've done... "Let me stop you there Bob!" Rocky Horror Virgins is a term for new audience members. This doesn't mean you aren't welcome! We encourage new people to come to the show all the time! Young, old, short, tall, every walk of life! Just because you've never been to the show before, doesn't mean that should stop you!
| | | | SACRIFICE?!?!1 | | | | | |
I'm sure most of the people that have never been to a Rocky Horror Shadow Cast know one thing: "THERE'S A SACRIFICE THEY MAKE THE VIRGINS DO! BLAH BLAH BLAH" Usually ending something with goat's blood or something silly and outrageous like that. Let me take this moment to clear this up for. First, no one under the age of 18 can "participate". Secondly, our shenanigans are harmless and silly... we are not a demonic cult. The worst you'll ever do is race to blow up a balloon... for great cash and prizes! And third, it's not mandatory, just greatly encouraged.
| | | | What's a Survival Kit? | | | | | |
A Survival kit includes: Rice, News Paper, Noise Makers, Toilet Paper, Toast, Paper Plates, Playing Cards, and some times a little "extra". "Because the difference between ordinary and extraordinary, is that little extra." And you may be wondering, "How is all of this going to help me survive?" Well, to be honest with you, it won't. But you don't need to survive anything really. It's just another way to have loads of fun throwing these things and not having to clean it up afterwards...
| | | | Too much Rocky Horror??? | | | | | |
There is no such thing as too much of a good thing! That's why we make thing's interesting with pre-shows, theme nights, and switching rolls... We're a blast to be around!
|
| | | | Rocky Horror & Homosexuality | | | | | |
Rocky Horror doesn't make anyone "homosexual" nor will it "fix" your homophobia... Rocky isn't just about dudes dressing in drag, it's about the chicks in dra...errr... hot outfits. Sure Tim Curry dresses like a chick, but he was in Home Alone with Macaulay Culkin, so he's gotta be legit, right? Anyways, no one forces their views on anyone else, except be loud and have a great time!
| | | | Don't you guys have lives? | | | | | |
Of course we do! You're so silly! Most of us work normal jobs in normal cities, with normal houses and normal friends. What exactly does normal mean anyways? Well you should check out the cast bios page above to see exactly how "normal" we are!
| | | | Theme Night? | | | | | |
A theme night is a special showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Special costumes, spectacular pre-shows, costume contests, dance party w/ live DJ, and much much more! "Got it, sounds good! Wait, pre-shows? What's a pre-show?" Well aren't we just an inquisitive bunch! I'm glad I caught your attention, keep reading and you'll see!
|
| | | | What time is the show? | | | | | |
Most normal shows start at midnight of every Saturday night. So make plans to come see us every Saturday! Special events sometimes include a dance party, which starts at 11 P.M. on Saturday, leading directly into the show.
| | | | What is a shadow cast? | | | | | |
You guys mean to tell me that you do EXACTLY what they do on the screen? Yes-sir-ie! And why's that you ask? It all started as a late-night showing where people would come in costume to show their... "appreciation" for the show. It turned into much more, but we'll learn about that in a bit!
| | | | Lipstick on my face? | | | | | |
Not to worry, that pretty little red "V" on your face washes off. Oh you're worried if the lipstick we are using is tested on animals? I'm sure it's not! But the "face painting" is not really really necessary. It's merely a mark that you're new to the show. Let's just say it shows that you're down for the fun of the night... Always a good mark in my book!
| | | | Why are they talking? | | | | | |
The audience is talking during the movie... People usually pay money for the movies to be QUIET, not the entire audience yelling at a 60 foot movie screen. What gives? Well, we at HelpMeMommy, and really all shadow casts, use "audience participation" AKA "AP" lines. These are usually witty, funny, and fall into place with the movie. Again, this is not just a movie, its an EXPERIENCE!
| | | | Drugs Sex & Alcohol? | | | | | |
No, No, No!!! I'd like to take this moment to smash the "Drug & Sex Cult" theory of Rocky Horror... This cast, in no way, condones, promotes, or allows any of that in or around the theater. What kind of establishment do you think we run here? This isn't the Neverland Ranch!
| | | | Playing Dress-Up? | | | | | |
Is it required to dress up as one of the characters? Nope, not at all. But we encourage it, because it's fun! And on special theme nights, there are costume contests! What's a theme night you ask? Well hold your horses there Bob! We'll get to that soon!
| | | | Pre-Shows? | | | | | |
A pre-show, well it's kinda like our "Extra Credit" for our audience. It's an opening skit, music or dance bit that will make you laugh, laugh and cry from laughing... Check under Pics & Video for our recent pre-shows!
